The heading is self explanatory. This blogging is seriously turning into an activity wherein I am just picking out the harsh experiences after Joining IT industry. Well that's my case as you can see now. I believe it has got nothing to do with dedication to work, just that I am made to do my work by myself and my seniors by putting Phrases like "Prioritisation","Need for the Hour","Resource Crunch" etc etc... But I don't think this is almost my elastic limit considering the present pressure on each of us here.
Where did it all go wrong? Did we make a mistake in Hurrying up through the initial testing when there were sufficient amount of help? Or was it the procrastination which has put us in this Mess?Well There is no use crying about the spilled milk now. When every one had the time, no one was bothered nor was anyone foreseeing all these.I guess this is where the a Visionary Leader is required. In life one will come across situations worse than this and if and only if we have good vision and forethought will we be able to survive.
I have always wondered why isn't the top management increasing the workforce in critical Projects like ours. These are sure revenue earners,so if in Production you are faced with Issues it means the reputation of the firm is lost. The value of a resource is slogging it out here is practically zero compared to an inefficient person coming out from a pretty good project.
The one good thing that you will gain out of this is huge amount of Product knowledge and a direct exposure to the Different Live Scenarios.Again we have to analyse what use is that for one's career.
If you were a developer then obviously Troubleshooting will add on to your Technical Skills. The confidence that you have on yourself will automatically increase and so also the grasp on the Language, practically. This is what a good developer requires. If he is able to grasp the business knowledge then it is an added advantage . But what about an Ordinary QC guy. Of course he will get the added product knowledge and business knowledge but then this will indirectly mean that He is becoming more dependent on the firm and the firm is again increasingly dependent on him for the knowledge that he posses in the product.Who is going to benefit from this? The individual or the Firm?
When you work sincerely, people come into direct conclusion that whatever work you give to him, that will be executed perfectly. I believe it is time to show that this a serious misinterpretation of our attitude. When one is ready to go to any extent to to make a successful migration then it should not be interpreted this way.Today was one more of the typical off-day where I had to slog it out till this time to come to terms to accuracy of data in the environment. Let us see how the work for tomorrow(which is of course today) is carried out.
I guess I have vented out most of my anger out here. There is no escaping from the fact that one is always duty-bound as long as you get the wage from a firm. But every duty has a limit. So be it then.
